2011 Darjeeling Autumn Flush Castleton China Special Black Tea

Castleton is a grand marque among the many fine gardens of Darjeeling. Planted about 125 years ago just south of the District town of Kurseong, this small, high-quality estate is reputed to be 100% China jat bushes. The tremendous care taken by Castleton during tea culture, plucking and manufacture results in teas known consistently for their lovely muscatel aroma and flavor.

This all-China Castleton immediately manifests quality in dry leaf with a beguiling aroma that is both fruity and greenish, with a suggestion of unripe pears or peaches. The infusion, likewise, is bold with fruit (green apricots and pears) with a touch of mint and citrus. There is noticeable tartness. The liquor rewards the tea-lover with a full play of muscatel richness and good mouth feel. This tea possesses plenty of good flavor whether taken black or with milk. A special treat, indeed.

A perfect after dinner tea Review by Peter, Canada

This tea is more floral than anything, with a slight fruity scent and taste. The black tea flavor can be quite rich and full as well, which compliments the floral flavors. This seems like a perfect after dinner tea, as it is dark and deep and rich for an evening delight.

extremely fresh tea Review by Christian, Mexico

This is an extremely fresh tea. When opening the bag the china profile comes immediately to the nose. It is very talkative, fresh and young. In the mouth it goes through the palate graciously, with a taste highly consistent with its aroma. No surprises here, just pure honesty and faithfulness. Highly recommended for your everyday third flush.
